Social Optics ("we", "our", or "the app") is a Shopify application that generates AI-powered product descriptions and promotional videos. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

2. Data We Collect

When you install Social Optics, we access:

  • Store information: Your shop domain and name (to identify your store)
  • Product data: Product titles, descriptions, prices, images, and categories (to generate descriptions and videos)
  • OAuth tokens: A Shopify access token to communicate with your store on your behalf

We do not collect:

  • Customer personal information
  • Payment or credit card details
  • Customer browsing or purchase history

3. How We Use Your Data

  • Generate AI product descriptions based on your product information
  • Create AI-powered promotional videos using your product details
  • Upload generated videos to platforms you connect (YouTube, TikTok, etc.)
  • Process billing through Shopify's built-in billing system

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following services to provide our features:

  • OpenAI: For AI-generated scripts and descriptions
  • Pexels: For royalty-free stock video footage
  • Google/YouTube API: For video uploads (when connected)
  • Firebase: For secure data storage

Product data sent to these services is used solely to generate your content and is not stored by them beyond processing.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely in Google Firebase (Firestore) with encryption at rest. Access tokens are stored server-side and never exposed to the browser. We retain your data only while your app is installed. After uninstallation, we delete all store data within 48 hours per Shopify's requirements.

6. Your Rights

You can:

  • Request a copy of your stored data at any time
  • Request deletion of your data by contacting us
  • Uninstall the app to stop all data collection

7. GDPR Compliance

We comply with GDPR and Shopify's mandatory privacy requirements. We handle all customer data request, customer redact, and shop redact webhooks from Shopify.
